In 2009, I bought a digital pen on the internet for 80 pounds and shipped it to a complete stranger on the other side of the world. His name was Benjaman Phillips from England, and I had met him in a Facebook group on astral projection. I was immediately drawn to his digital art, and since we needed a logo for our idea, I decided to send him a message telling him about the concepts behind it and asking if he'd like to get involved. As we went back and forth through Facebook messages, it almost seemed too good to be true. Apparently he was an extremely gifted artist who worked in the movies for Warner Brother Studios and had been influential in the Harry Potter series and Star Wars movies, (not to mention he helped design the joker mask in The Dark Knight). He loved our concept and wanted to start sketching immediately. The only problem was that he didn't have a digital pen. "I lost the last one on a job... doh." It seemed a little funny to me that a world renowned digital artist didn't have an extra digital pen handy, but I liked his vibe so we decided to take a chance. We offered to order him a new digital pen if he would design us a logo for Time-Peace in return and he agreed.
We wanted something that would symbolize the shift in consciousness from our current perception of time seen as past/future, to realizing our interconnectedness through presence by using a more right brained way of looking at the world. Needless to say, we were happy when Benji sent us this six days later as a first draft...
We wanted to incorporate the name with the logo, so Benji came up with this after another twelve days...
We thought it was brilliant, and it seemed like we might have had a winner. But while we were showing another one of the original co-founders of Time-Peace's mother the logo, she said "This is very nice, but you know you have the peace sign upside down." Huh???
She explained that the peace signs we all use now actually symbolize suffering and separateness, the opposite of the Tree of Life, which is created from the peace sign right side up. We found this idea very interesting, and after all, it would make sense that in our unconscious way of looking at the world we would collectively perceive the opposite symbol of what we were really trying to achieve. Why else had the peace movement never worked?
We decided that we needed to investigate. The thought of us putting out a symbol to be worn by people all over the world that gave off bad energy weighed down on me heavily, and I didn't know what to do. After months of researching and struggling to find an answer, I decided to do something I had only done once before. I asked the Universe to give me a sign. The first time I did this, it lead to me reading the Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, which is when the idea for Time-Peace was born.
That day, I walked into my girlfriend's apartment and was immediately drawn to a styrofoam sword that was sitting by the door, something fun and unusual for an apartment full of girls. I started playing around the room with it like a kid, but it wasn't until later that day while reading The Marriage Between Heaven and Hell by William Blake did I realize that I had received my clue. The current peace sign represents a sword which must symbolize all of the suffering we would need to experience in order to wake up and realize our true nature of interconnectedness.
The decision had been made, and this time without Benji, we went to flipping the peace sign to finalize our logo, thereby creating a true symbol for peace. The tree of life represents the interconnectedness of all life, and the reason it is associated with time is because it is the present moment which connects everything.
It's hard to believe that in 2009, we were looking for a symbol to represent our dream of living in a world free of stress and worry, and now there are people spreading Time-Peace in Italy, Australia, Israel, Norway, Netherlands, France, Croatia, Canada, England, Sweden, and more countries around the world. There are now thousands of dreamers from over thirty countries who understand that we are all connected in the present moment. Thank you all for being a part of this. It's time to stop worrying and start Being.
